Andy Chung returns

Popular entertainer booked for September 28

Popular singer/songwriter Andy Chung returns to Balerno later this year just ahead of his latest album launch.

The Kirkcaldy-born musician plays Balerno Bowling Club on Sunday, September 28 (afternoon session) and he promises a selection of Scottish, Motown, Elvis and Buddy Holly numbers in his set.

The appearance will follow a busy summer which includes ten gigs on the Edinburgh Festival Fringe at historic Captain's Bar in South College Street, Edinburgh, a well-known folk music venue near The Festival Theatre and The National Museum of Scotland

Of course the former sculpture and painting graduate is well-known locally for his gigs at The Grey Horse in Main Street, Balerno.

Andy played there regularly for nearly a decade before the venue closed.

The performer has been a resident in Scotland's Capital for many years after leaving Fife where his family emigrated to from Hong Kong in the early 1960s.

He showed a talent for the creative arts in his early years and studied first at Edinburgh's Telford College before moving on the Glasgow School of Art.

However, with a growing interest in music, he played guitar and fronted various bands before securing residencies at well-known folk music bars in Edinburgh including The Royal Oak, The Hebrides Bar, The Scotsman Lounge and Sandy Bells.

Now, he has a packed diary, mostly in Central Scotland, but he will play Kingussie and Harris this year before arriving at Balerno Bowling Club.

He said: 'II have played Balerno Bowling Club on four occasions and I've also performed at a christening in the lower hall.

"I have a good following in Balerno and it will be good to be back there again after a busy summer. My diary is packed.

"I'm playing three gigs in the Fringe this year and my new album of 12 songs will be released in December so it is an exciting time."

So, save the date, Sunday, September 28, afternoon session, Balerno Bowling Club.
